Bude Castle Heritage Centre

Bude

Places to Visit

The Castle, Bude’s Heritage Centre is based in a grade II listed building, one of Bude’s finest and oldest, nestled in the sand dunes overlooking Summerleaze Beach and  alongside the Bude Canal. The Castle, which it was named when it was built in 1830, is steeped in history and is a great place to visit whether young or old.

It’s imposing, yet elegant and unaltered, Victorian façade houses the Heritage Centre, Art Galleries, Café and shop. The rooms and exhibition spaces are light and airy and sympathetic to the Victorian period style. New for 2021: Visit the new Virtual Reality experience and steer the ship, the ‘Ceres’, into the port of Bude.

Throughout the summer months there are many lawn activities and events for everyone to enjoy, all of which are free. We have a bandstand programme running throughout featuring all styles of music. Visit Café Limelight within The Castle for a takeaway picnic and then enjoy the fun on the lawn. Please visit our website for all event listings

A warm welcome awaits you at The Castle.

The Castle offers free admission and is open daily  - it is owned and operated by Bude-Stratton Town Council.
