Cornwall At War Museum

Camelford

Places to Visit

This is not your usual type of museum and it certainly isn’t a large grey building with all the exhibits neatly arranged on shelf after shelf in glass cabinets!

Our family loves this museum which is set out in numerous different buildings across the site, ranging from an aircraft hangar containing several planes, to the animals at war exhibit. There is no much to see that we have visited the museum multiple times and always found something new!

Initially dedicated primarily to RAF Davidstow moor from its opening on 1st October 1942 until its closure in 1945, the museum now covers all aspects of Cornwall and its military history.

There is a do-it-yourself NAAFI on-site for hot & cold drinks, crisps etc with comfortable seating and a selection of WW2 newspapers for you to read.

There are Airfield Tours on offer on Thursday afternoons at 2 pm (July to the end of September ONLY) Booking is essential for the tours which are carried out in the crew bus Marlene.

Other facilities include a children’s play area, picnic tables and tea and coffee.

PLEASE NOTE - there is another, smaller museum, next to the Cornwall At War Museum. To ensure you arrive at the right place, drive though the red double gates in front of you and then on to the car park inside.
