Golitha Falls

Liskeard

Places to Visit

Golitha Falls is a beautiful stretch of gently cascading falls along the River Fowey as it leaves Bodmin Moor.

Along this stretch the river flows through woodland with a variety of landscapes, from steep sided banks to wide open beaches. Through this section of river the water descends just over 90 metres, so the water is fast flowing in places.

Golitha Falls is a National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - this really is a special place to visit! It is especially important for the wide variety of mosses and lichens that grow on the rocks and trees in the woods.

There are wild flowers to see most of the year, but in the spring there is an especially beautiful carpet of bluebells.

Some of the slower parts of the river open up to sandy banks - a great spot for paddling on a warm day!

Please note - there are some extremely slippery areas and the river is fast flowing

Access: - there are some paths but it is mostly very uneven underfoot. Even an off road pushchair would struggle, so best for babies in slings or children who can walk confidently.

Parking: - free car park, but it does fill quickly in the summer

Toilets: - in the car park

Food: - Indie's Smokehouse cafe is situated in the car park

Dogs: - dogs are allowed year round
