Penhallam Manor

Places to Visit

Managed by English Heritiage, at Penhallam Manor you can see the grass-covered but complete ground-plan of a moated manor house.

These low ruins are the remains of a 13th century manor house that was built by Andrew de Cardinham. Moated manor houses are rare in Cornwall, as they are usually found in central and eastern England. Having been abandoned in the 14th century, Penhallam's full medieval ground plan has survived unaltered by later building work.

The site is open any reasonable time during daylight hours and is free to access.

Please note - Whilst Penhallam Manor remains open, access to the central area is not currently possible as the bridge requires essential maintenance to make it safe for visitors to use.
