Beach Clean Porthcothan Bay

Padstow

Next dates

Sorry, there are no future dates available

Beach Guardian are pleased to bring you our 2024 Beach Cleaning events!

We are so grateful to all the volunteers that have joined us on our previous beach cleans and followed our new Covid-19 regulations so carefully and cautiously. It will be a true pleasure to see you all again and we thank you for your cooperation and patience.

All equipment will be provided for you when you arrive, and we will remove everything that is collected on the day

Please ensure you have watched our new safety video before you arrive.

It is extremely important to us at Beach Guardian to keep everyone on the beach safe, but we also want to ensure that the environment is being protected. If you have any reservations or anxieties about joining an organised group event, we have a full, up to date Covid-19 policy and risk assessment.

Beach Guardian is an award winning community interest company based in Padstow, Cornwall, that was co-founded by father and daughter duo: Rob and marine biologist Emily. We aim to engage, educate and empower against plastic pollution.

Beach Guardian aims to ‘engage, educate and empower against plastic pollution’ and achieves this by working towards 5 key objectives:-

Education - Beach Guardian S.E.A.L. Workshops (School Education Activities Link) are available for both Primary and Secondary schools, colleges, sixth forms, universities and any other body of education. To book your free session, please email: seal@beachguardian.co.uk.

Outreach - we have now hosted over 200 community beach cleans for volunteers and community groups.-

Businesses - working closely and collaboratively within businesses to find solutions, alternatives and reducing reliance on plastics.

Collaboration - working in positive partnerships with other organisations is integral in Beach Guardian’s ethos, our voices are louder together.

Research - During Emily’s Marine Biology degree, she wrote a thesis exploring the quantities and sources of plastics stranded on beaches along the North Cornwall coastline. She then analysed the extent of biofouling on these plastics and whether this flotsam has the potential to become a vector for invasive species, utilising this substrate to avoid warming oceanic temperatures due to climate change.
