Bodmin Keep — the historic home of the army in Cornwall!

Bodmin Keep has stood tall in Bodmin for more than 160 years. A Grade II listed building located on the site of the former Victoria Barracks, the Keep is the former headquarters of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. 

The museum within the grounds houses 12,000 artefacts spanning over 300 years of military history. Sharing stories of the Cornwall Volunteers and Volunteer Militia, the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry (DCLI), The Light Infantry (LI) and The Rifles.

From uniforms, paintings and badges to medals, weapons and a piece of the Berlin Wall! There's lots to explore at Cornwall's Army Museum.

Visit Bodmin Keep: Cornwall's Army Museum and  retrace the footsteps of ordinary men and women living through extraordinary times!

Access: - the museum is on the first and second floor of the building, accessed by a flight of stairs. If you can carry a pushchair up the stairs there is room to push it round the museum. 

The museum say 'If you are unable to access the museum via the stairs, but wish to see or learn about a particular item or aspect of history, please get in touch and we will do all we can to assist.'

For visitors with a visual impairment, supported visits tailored to your needs including ’hands on’ sessions with museum objects are available to pre-book.

For visitors with autism, special quiet times and spaces are offered.

• Food: - none served on site however, we do have a Coffee Stop and Secondhand Bookshop on-site with light refreshments.
