If you are looking for a day out in Looe we have some great suggestions for activities and days out for any budget.

There are plenty of things to do with children in Looe - ranging from wildlife boat trips and animal sanctuaries, to trips on historic railways.

Attractions

The Monkey Sanctuary

If you have any animals lovers in your family, The Monkey Sanctuary is a great family day out. When you buy a ticket you are entitled to re-visit again as many times as you like for 12 months!
As well as the monkeys, there is a wild play area for children to enjoy, a wildlife room, a tea room and a gift shop.

Old Guildhall Museum and Gaol

This fascinating collection of items telling the history of Looe is housed in a 15th century building that still has it's magistrates bench and cells intact! The museum is a great place to visit in Looe if you are interested in the history of the local area. It has exhibits from the Bronze Age to the modern day, there is certainly no shortage of things to look at! Domestic equipment, 17th century porcelain, regalia, model boats, the remains of a WWII US bomber and much more. There is also a large archive of old photographs.

Glass Bottomed Boat

The boat trips around Looe Bay offer families a great chance to get out on the water and spot some local wildlife.

Paint A Pot

For a wet weather activity in Looe, at Paint A Pot you can Design and paint your own ceramic pottery. Everything you need is supplied, including paints, brushes, sponges and stencils. Advice and help is always available at the studio, and the easy techniques will help you to produce amazing results. All ages are welcome, so everyone can enjoy this creative family activity in Looe.

Beaches

There are a great selection of beaches around Looe.

If you are looking for something convenient with easy access and facilities close by, why not try Seaton. There is a large car park, toilets, a cafe and pub right at the entrance to the beach. The river that runs through the beach to the sea is popular with children, and there is a large playground next to the car park.

If you are looking for rockpools, Hannafore is the place to head to. This beach requires a short walk from the main car parks in Looe, but is renowned for being one of the best rock pooling beaches in Cornwall. The beach also benefits from beautiful views across to Looe Island.

For active families who want to take part in some watersports such as surfing, paddleboarding, bodyboarding or kayaking, the beach for you is Millendreath. This south facing sheltered beach has sand and rock pools, but is also home to a water sport hire company for those who don't own their own equipment.

Parks and Walks

If you are looking for a walk near Looe with spectacular views, why not walk the coast path from Looe to Polperro. This popular route is just over 5 miles long and can be hard going in some places so might be suited either to older children or ones small enough to be in a carrier. If you do make it all the way to Polperro, you can catch a bus back to Looe!

Seaton Valley Country Park is the newest of Cornwall's parks and covers just over 53 hectares in the bottom of a steep-sided wooded valley. The Local Nature Reserve is popular with visitors and is home to wildlife such as otters, kingfishers, dormice and fritillary butterflies. There is a Cornwall Council run car park, a picnic area with benches and toilets on site.

If you are looking for a secluded nature walk in Looe, Kilminorth Woods is a beautiful spot very close to Looe town. There is parking in Millpool car park.
