Standing in the beautiful countryside, Restormel is one of the most remarkable castles in Britain. The circular structure, built in the late 13th century, was a luxurious retreat for its medieval owners. The castle has fantastic views across the valley of the river Fowey and is a favourite picnic spot – with beautiful spring flowers, and plants all year round. 

There are beautiful bluebells to be seen in the Spring.

For a longer day out, there is a great walking link to the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery.

Access: - The site has mostly grass surfaces (some of which are uneven) as well as gravel and a number of concrete pathways. 

Parking: - there is a free car park on site

Toilets: - next to the Visitor Centre

Food: - vending machine selling hot drinks, and shop also sells a selection of snacks, including crisps, cold drinks, confectionery and ice cream. Picnic benches around the site.

Dogs: - dogs on leads are welcome
